If you are pregnant, an ultrasound will help determine what’s next. We offer no-cost ultrasounds to those who qualify to help you take the next steps in your pregnancy. All of our pregnancy services, including ultrasounds, are provided at no cost and are entirely confidential.
How Does an Ultrasound Work?
An ultrasound is an imaging technique that uses sound waves to create images of the pregnancy. Radiation is not used during an ultrasound procedure.
There are two types of prenatal ultrasounds: transvaginal ultrasounds and abdominal ultrasounds. A transvaginal ultrasound uses a wand-like device placed inside the vagina. An abdominal ultrasound is completed by moving a device over your belly. We offer both abdominal and transvaginal ultrasounds administered by one of our RNs.
Why You Need an Ultrasound
An ultrasound is a much-needed step in the pregnancy confirmation process, especially when considering your pregnancy options like abortion. Medical abortion is only recommended by the FDA for women through 10 weeks of pregnancy. You will need an ultrasound to confirm this detail of pregnancy.
We at Life Choice Pregnancy Center offer no-cost ultrasounds to women who qualify with one of our medical-grade pregnancy tests. Ultrasounds are used to confirm three important pregnancy details:
- How far along you are (gestational age)
- The location of your pregnancy (whether the pregnancy is located within the uterus)
- Pregnancy viability (whether there is a heartbeat and the pregnancy is progressing)
These details will inform you whether you need a different medical procedure, such as ectopic pregnancy treatment, for your health.
